According to VideoCardz, on January 6, NVIDIA will officially present DLSS 4.5 - the next stage in the development of DLSS 4 technology.
The update focuses on improving Super Resolution and implementing the Dynamic Multi Frame Generation mode. By using a second-generation transformer model, developers promise a noticeable increase in image quality: better temporal stability, cleaner anti-aliasing, and a reduction in the ghosting effect that troubled users in previous versions.
The key innovation of DLSS 4.5 will be dynamic frame generation. Unlike current solutions, the technology is not tied to a fixed multiplier: depending on settings and computing power, it will be possible to obtain from 3× to 6× more frames per second. The function is aimed at monitors with high refresh rates, including 240 Hz. Users will be able to set a target FPS limit in the NVIDIA App, and the system will automatically adjust frame generation to maintain stable smoothness.
The compatibility situation is mixed. DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution will work on all RTX video cards — 20, 30, 40, and 50 series. Meanwhile, Dynamic 6× Frame Generation will be exclusive to the RTX 50. Full support for DLSS 4.5 will appear on release day via the NVIDIA App, while the six-fold frame generation feature will become available in the spring of 2026.
