Streamers "Karamazov": A New Cast of Characters Introduced for the Needy Streamer Overdose Anime Adaptation
The adaptation of the visual novel about the life of an unstable streamer will tell an independent story with new characters.
The anime adaptation of the visual novel Needy Streamer Overdose (also known as Needy Girl Overload) has received new details. The project's authors have presented a new poster and announced the creation of an original group of streamers called "Karamazov," which will appear exclusively in the anime. This aligns with previously announced plans - the adaptation will tell an independent story within the universe of the original, rather than being a direct retelling of the game. It has also been announced that in March, a month before the anime's April premiere, a limited screening of the "theatrical version" titled NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE -OVERTURE will begin in Japanese cinemas. The creators have not yet specified whether this will be a compilation of the first episodes - as is often the case in such instances - or separate, independent material.
The anime is being produced by Yostar Pictures, which previously worked on the Arknights and Blue Archive adaptations. The project is directed by Masaoki Nakajima, who previously directed a short film based on Needy Girl Overdose and participated in the creation of the Blue Archive and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt anime. The music is being written by Aiobahn +81, Sasuke Haraguchi, and DÉ DÉ MOUSE - the same team that worked on the original game.
Despite the fact that the screenwriter and creator of the universe, Nyalra, was previously removed from participating in the project's promotion, his work still forms the basis of the first season's script. In November 2025, the writer stated that Why So Serious Inc., which owns the rights to the franchise, had excluded him from the leadership team and prohibited him from publicly participating in the anime's promotion. He confirmed that he had completed all thirteen scripts for the season but is now consulting with lawyers regarding copyright protection and payment of royalties.
In official materials, Nyalra is now only mentioned as the author of the original idea and script, without involvement in production. The writer himself continues to work on a new project with former members of the Needy Girl Overdose team.
The specific start date for the anime's broadcast in April has not yet been revealed.
