Nia DaCosta is confident she understands how to bring Robert Kirkman's world to the big screen.
Director Nia DaCosta, who directed Captain Marvel 2, said she would like to work on a full-length live-action adaptation of Invincible. She mentioned this during a Sony Pictures Q&A session, answering a question about franchises she would be interested in developing in the future.
According to DaCosta, she is close to both the original comic and the animated version. The director noted that she has a good idea of how to bring this world and its key themes to the live-action film format. She emphasized that she is attracted to the harsher and more adult tone of the story, which is rare for superhero films.
The original Invincible comic, created by Robert Kirkman, tells the story of teenager Mark Grayson, who begins his journey as a superhero under the guidance of his own father. The animated adaptation already has three seasons, and the premiere of the fourth is scheduled for March 2026.
Talk of a full-length Invincible film has been going on for a long time: back in 2017, it was reported that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were interested in making a live-action film. However, the project has not yet been put into production.
