James Gunn Comments on Rumors of Grant Gustin's Return as The Flash
Attentive DC fans have linked Grant Gustin's new look to a possible return of Barry Allen.
DC Studios head James Gunn has commented on rumors that Grant Gustin may reprise his role as The Flash in the revamped DC cinematic universe. The discussions were sparked by photos of the actor with blonde hair – fans decided he was preparing for a new incarnation of the superhero.
One user addressed Gunn:
"If Grant Gustin isn't The Flash in the DC universe, we'll riot. And if it's Elliot Page... then you hate Flash fans even more."
To which he replied:
"I keep hearing that someone is going to riot over anything, but I haven't seen one yet. By the way, I love Grant. But I don't understand what Elliot has to do with it."
Gustin himself has not commented on the rumors. According to Deadline, his new look is most likely related to the film Rooster directed by Mills Mcqueen, which wrapped filming in December 2025.
There are no official plans for Gustin's Flash to return to DC yet. The studio has only confirmed that the character will appear in future projects of the revamped "Gods and Monsters" universe, but who exactly will play Barry Allen is still unknown.
