Publisher HypeTrain Digital and Sleepy Castle Studio have released the adventure RPG Escape from Ever After.
The developers make no secret of their sources of inspiration. Escape from Ever After directly draws on the classic Paper Mario series, but reinterprets the familiar formula through satire on corporate culture and capitalism. The plot involves the mega-corporation Ever After Inc. absorbing fairy tale and book worlds, turning their inhabitants into cheap labor.
The main character is Flint Buckler. Together with other fairy tale characters, he must lead the resistance and challenge corporate tyranny. Players can expect to travel through diverse worlds, meet alternative versions of famous literary heroes, and fight enemies — for example, an evil version of the Three Little Pigs, building up a magical forest for profit.
The gameplay is built around a turn-based combat system with an emphasis on combinations of skills and items. Each partner has unique abilities that can be unlocked and developed. In between battles, players are invited to perform "office" tasks, participate in conflicts with management, and customize their workspace.
The game was released on January 23, 2026, and is already available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam.
Along with the release, the developers also published a new trailer for the project, available at the following link.
