Indie studio Big Distraction celebrated the successful launch of their cooperative roguelike LORT, inspired by Risk of Rain 2. In just three days after its early access release on January 21, the game sold over 100,000 copies on Steam.

LORT is a cooperative roguelike designed for groups of up to eight people. Already at the start of early access, the game features four biomes with unique bosses, over 45 types of enemies, and a separate final battle. Players are offered nine types of weapons — from swords and bows to firearms — as well as almost a hundred improvements that can be combined to create powerful builds.

The Big Distraction team consists of ten people. The developers admit that they got tired of waiting for the sequel to Risk of Rain 2 and eventually decided to leave a large studio to create their own project. They do not disclose the name of their former employer, but that is how LORT came to be.

The developers thanked the audience for their support, calling the start "absolutely crazy," and promised to actively develop the project. The first major update is planned to add a new character, daggers, additional improvements, and quests. In the future, the team intends to expand the metaprogression, introduce new biomes, difficulty levels, and an endless mode.

At the same time, Big Distraction acknowledged one of the main complaints from players — the high level of difficulty, especially in single-player mode. The authors emphasize that LORT was originally conceived as a hardcore roguelike, but promised to make adjustments to make the entry threshold less painful for beginners.

LORT is available in early access on Steam. Until February 4, the game is discounted by 34% — it can now be purchased for 364 rubles.
