Lenovo is sounding the alarm: if you were planning a PC upgrade, do it now. Ryan McCurdy, President of Lenovo North America, stated: "Buy while it's cheap, because it will be more expensive soon."
According to him, 2026 will be a challenging year for gamers and electronics buyers. The reason is global instability in supply chains and a sharp increase in prices for components. The main factor in the situation is the "largest infrastructure expansion in history," as described by the head of NVIDIA, caused by the rapid growth of the AI industry. Resources that previously went to gaming PCs are now being directed to building data centers. This leads to a shortage of DRAM and NAND, and prices for video cards, processors, and SSDs will rise at least until 2027.
Lenovo notes that current inventories at distributors and partners offer the most favorable prices of the year. McCurdy warns that in the next 6–12 months, the main problem will not be cost, but the availability of components. Some American system integrators report a record-breaking disappearance of goods from the market.
