DANGEN Entertainment and Moonlight Games have announced the console release date for Hunt the Night. Digital versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch will be released on February 26. Physical editions for PS5 and Switch are planned for release in the summer by Selecta Play.
Hunt the Night is positioned as an action RPG in the spirit of 16-bit classics with an emphasis on challenging combat and dark fantasy. The player controls Vesper, a huntress and member of the Stalkers order, who is trying to break the endless cycle of humanity's destruction by the forces of the Night.
The gameplay is based on dynamic, skill-demanding battles. Vesper freely switches between melee attacks and ranged weapons, combining sword strikes with firearms and using dark abilities. Special attention is paid to bosses: each opponent has several phases and their own vulnerabilities to study.
A separate emphasis is placed on exploring the world of Medram. Players will find dungeons with traps, puzzles, and side quests that change depending on the decisions made.
Hiroki Kikuta, the composer of Secret of Mana, was brought in to create the soundtrack, emphasizing the project's connection to the classics of the genre.
The game originally debuted on PC in April 2023 on Steam and GOG. Since then, it has received 485 user reviews, 75% of which are positive.
