The anime based on the viral visual novel about an unstable streamer will be released on April 4.
The creators of the NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE anime have presented the main trailer for the series and a new key visual featuring the image of Choten-chan. The exact release date was also announced: the series will premiere on April 4 at 18:30 Moscow time.
The project is based on the eponymous game NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE, developed by WSS playground and xemono. It was released in 2022, quickly became a viral hit, and at the time of publication has almost 50,000 reviews on Steam, of which 94% are positive.
The player takes on the role of a producer for a girl named Ame, who streams under the pseudonym OMGkawaiiAngel and dreams of becoming the most popular internet idol. At first glance, the game looks like a streamer simulator with elements of a visual novel, but gradually the story turns into a psychological horror.
The anime will tell an independent story in the universe of the original and will not be a direct adaptation of the game's plot. The production is handled by Yostar Pictures, which previously worked on the adaptations of Arknights and Blue Archive.
The script and overall concept are by the creator of the nyalra universe. The project is directed by Masaoki Nakajima, who previously directed a short version of NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE. The music for the series is written by Aiobahn +81, Sasuke Haraguchi, and DÉ DÉ MOUSE — the composers of the original game.
