The new film in the Mario universe is confidently conquering cinemas.
"Super Mario: Galactic Cinema" started its run with a strong result and grossed $122.1 million worldwide in its first two days. Of this amount, $59.1 million came from the USA, and another $63 million from international markets.
The sequel is running almost on par with the first part, which eventually grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide, and has already become one of the most successful premieres of the year, confirming analysts' forecasts expecting about $180-200 million for the debut weekend.
At the same time, critics met the film with restraint (40% on Rotten Tomatoes). Viewers, as in the case of the first part, received it much warmer: the user rating is kept at 90%, which is reflected in the occupancy of the halls.
In Russian cinemas, "Super Mario: Galactic Cinema" will start on April 9.
