The development of Star Wars Eclipse, one of the most anticipated projects of the Quantic Dream studio, has encountered serious difficulties and may be under threat. This is reported by Insider Gaming, citing sources familiar with the situation.

The game was announced back in 2021, but almost five years later, its production, according to sources, is progressing extremely slowly. Despite the fact that a significant part of the project is already ready, the remaining stages of development are progressing with great difficulty — in recent months, the team has achieved "very little progress". According to estimates, the game's release is still "several years away", if the project is completed at all.

The main reason for concern is not only the pace of development, but also the financial risks. The studio's parent company, NetEase, previously reduced investment in foreign projects, closing funding for several games at once. Against this background, the fate of Quantic Dream and its projects is in question.

An additional risk factor is the dependence on the success of the multiplayer game Spellcasters Chronicles, which should generate revenue to finance Star Wars Eclipse. The project was released in early access in February 2026, but its performance was weak: the peak online was only 888 players, and on average the game barely holds even 200 users simultaneously.

According to Insider Gaming, if Spellcasters Chronicles fails to achieve commercial success, NetEase may revise its strategy and stop further investment in the studio. This, in turn, threatens not only Star Wars Eclipse, but also the future of Quantic Dream as a whole.
