
Iron Hands and Hive Tyrant: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Developers Share Plans for Third Year of Game Development
The game will feature reworked modes, new weapons, and much more.
The developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have released a new major community update, revealing details of future patches, the roadmap, and continued support for the game. Among the main news is the extension of the project's lifecycle and significant changes to gameplay systems.
The authors noted that the positive reaction of players to recent updates motivated them to continue releasing free content and add-ons. Everything that could not be implemented in the second year will be moved to the third – while the previously promised free status of the content will be maintained.
One of the key innovations will be the rework of the equipment system. Players will be able to use items previously tied to specific classes on other classes. However, access to such items will have to be earned in the game through difficult challenges. Changes will be implemented in stages: patch 13 will introduce cloaks and iron halos, and patch 14 will introduce tabards and robes.

Significant changes are also expected in the "Siege" mode. New items will be added to it, including turrets, mines, explosive barrels, and assistants like the Commissar and Tech-Priest. A modifier system will appear, allowing flexible customization of difficulty and playstyle. In addition, new bosses will appear in the mode, including the Hive Tyrant and Vortex Beast, and the timer will be reworked: after it expires, the game will not end, but enemies will become significantly stronger.
The developers also announced a new operation on the planet Kadaku, where the squad will have to investigate Chaos activity and stop a dark ritual. A training arena will be added to the game on a battle barge, allowing players to test weapons and builds with damage display.
The game will also feature various cosmetic sets, including the Iron Hands and Salamanders chapters.
