In early May, a new local festival, "Russian Games Festival 2026," kicked off on PC in Steam. The digital event is dedicated not only to games from Russia itself but also features projects from CIS countries.
The event organizer is not Valve itself, but Blackbalance Games studio – it already held the festival last year, then it was called "Games from Russia".
As part of the "Russian Games Festival 2026," an "exclusive announcement" was made – the Zombie Hamsters project was presented. This is a cooperative game about zombie hamsters escaping from a scientific laboratory:
You are small, hungry, and… dead. Team up with up to 4 players and lead the zombie hamster uprising! Your goal is to escape from a top-secret laboratory, leaving behind only ruins and a fluffy army of darkness. Two paths to freedom: Cause a total infection, turning staff into zombies, or become masters of stealth, crawling through narrow ventilation shafts.
The trailer is available here.
The "Russian Games Festival 2026" featured already released games, such as Union of Gnomes, No, I'm not a Human, and Hail to the Rainbow, as well as upcoming projects, such as It's Breaking Out, Synchro, and "Mekhanoidy: Protokol Voyny".
In addition, demos of many games are available, including:
