Denuvo blocked players from launching Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds during a new Steam promotion
Not everyone who wanted to could experience the game from the famous franchise.
Recently, SEGA launched a new promotional event on PC via Steam. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was made temporarily free, inviting players to try out the project.
However, a problem arose: the PC version is protected by Denuvo. Community members found that while they could download the game itself, the DRM system simply wouldn't allow them to launch Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Photos of the error began to circulate online, using the general message "Sorry, something went wrong."
Sonic Team and SEGA responded to feedback and quickly fixed the launch issue. This incident greatly angered players, who called for Denuvo to be removed from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (the game had previously been cracked using the popular "hypervisor" method).
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a racing game featuring characters from the Sonic universe and other franchises.
