Escape from Tarkov developers updated the engine and reworked aiming - large update testing has begun

The developers decided to test the new version of the mechanics and engine before the full release.

Escape from Tarkov developers announced the start of testing various changes they have been talking about in recent months. This time, the ETS server is open to all players, including Steam users:

With the start of this phase, we are completely lifting the NDA [non-disclosure agreement]. This means you will be able to freely share screenshots, record videos, conduct live streams, and openly discuss new features with the community.

Among the changes being tested:

  • Transition to a new version of the Unity engine. The developers explained that this is necessary to improve game stability and performance, as well as to use new features of the game engine in future updates.
  • Reworked aiming system – the developers aim to make the mechanics "more realistic and immersive".
  • Updated data storage methodology

Currently, Escape from Tarkov developers are collecting feedback from community members. Shortly after the launch of this testing round, they announced the first changes:

Based on player feedback from the ETS server, we have made adjustments to the aiming system: we will continue to consider player feedback and make changes as testing progresses.
