Will Leon return in future Resident Evil games? Capcom's official answer
In an interview, director Koushi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa shared details about the success of Resident Evil Requiem. The developers brought the series back to its roots, making zombies the main enemy in modern Raccoon City.
To enhance the fear, they added disturbing human traits to them – they continue to perform familiar actions, which intensifies the atmosphere.
A key element was the contrast between the characters. The new heroine, Grace Ashcroft, is responsible for pure horror and has already become a fan favorite. Leon S. Kennedy acts as a "safety valve," adding more dynamic and lighter action scenes.
The developers also reassured fans: Leon, who will soon be 50, will not retire. Nakanishi stated that Capcom does not plan to replace iconic characters with new heroes. According to him, Leon can continue fighting monsters even at 70 years old.
