Not even wanted for free? The creators of the hardcore zombie extraction game launched a new promotion, but the online player count didn't significantly increase
The developers of The Midnight Walkers still managed to attract some attention.
In early 2026, Oneway Ticket Studio released The Midnight Walkers on PC via Steam. The developers position their project as a hardcore PvPvE first-person shooter with dangerous zombies, players, valuable loot, and extraction mechanics.
The events unfold in Liberty Grand Center — a huge complex of buildings where each floor has its own theme and unique loot:
The threat here is not only zombies or other survivors. Over time, a poisonous gas system spreads to random floors, and you will have to use elevators or stairs to avoid it. But remember: every time you move to another floor, your chances of meeting other survivors increase.
At launch, the peak online player count for The Midnight Walkers on Steam exceeded 2,000 players, but after that, interest quickly began to wane. In May, the developers launched a "free weekend" promotion — everyone interested had the opportunity to try the game.
Recently, the online player count was at the level of 50-180 players, and after the start of the promotion, it rose to 559, but then began to decline again. According to SteamDB, The Midnight Walkers did not make it into the top 1000 sales chart this weekend.
Reviews for The Midnight Walkers on Steam are still "mixed." Some who tried to play complain in their reviews that it is very difficult to find a match.
