Gamer-activists cancel Crimson Desert - game receives negative reviews due to Damiana's censorship
Some have raised questions for Pearl Abyss studio.
Crimson Desert recently received a major update 1.06.00. A user under the nickname Mangalawyer posted a screenshot with Damiana on social media and accused the developers of censorship:
Another project has fallen victim. Damiana's outfit from Crimson Desert was censored in the new patch, and a body type [shorts] underwear was added. Personally, I refused to buy this game as soon as I saw how they betrayed the foundation of Black Desert and went in a too "modest" design direction. They already got your money. Well, good luck.
He did not provide additional evidence of "censorship," but in another discussion, users also noted that the heroine's clothing design was changed, covering her butt and legs more.
On Steam, there is now (still small) a surge of negative reviews — players criticize Pearl Abyss studio for censoring the female character.
In the patch description, "Damiana" is mentioned only five times, and the developers said nothing about changing the girl's model. The studio has not yet responded to the accusations of "censorship."
Earlier, another post by Mangalawyer provoked a "cancel campaign." He drew players' attention to a photo on social media — Anita Sarkeesian met with the developers of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Now some gamers criticize Sandfall Interactive studio for its connection with Anita, and also state that they will not buy its new projects.
