On May 14, Subnautica 2 was released on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S in early access. The game received many positive reviews, but there were also some dissatisfied individuals.
Some users really want to have full-fledged weapons and the ability to kill hostile creatures in the game. However, the developers of the underwater survival game have a different creative vision – they refused to satisfy such a request from players.
Recently, this topic was brought up again in the official Discord* channel of Subnautica. When a user asked Unknown Worlds Entertainment why there was no such mechanic in the game, Artem O'Reilly responded by suggesting they try other games:
Our game is not about killing. If you want to kill, go play Sons of the Forest or something similar.
Earlier, the creators of Subnautica 2 published a roadmap for the project's development. The developers intend to introduce a couple of major updates in the coming months. They are not going to add a "killing" mechanic, but the game will soon feature "sprint" and more.
