Fans launched a petition calling for Destiny 3
Some fans of the franchise still believe in its potential.
In late May, Destiny 2 developers announced that they would stop releasing content updates for the game. The final update is planned for next month.
This greatly upset some fans. A petition was launched calling for Destiny 3 – signatories believe that the franchise has potential and the next installment could attract not only old players but also newcomers:
The Destiny franchise has captured the minds of millions of players worldwide with its deep lore, engaging gameplay, and strong sense of camaraderie. However, with the end of content updates for Destiny 2, it's time to take the next step and keep this beloved series alive. This step should be the creation of Destiny 3 [...] Our passion and dedication to the franchise compel us to reach out to Sony and express our collective voice. We believe in the potential of Destiny 3 to inspire a new generation of players and keep the flame of the Guardian spirit alive.
According to the petition's authors, a hypothetical Destiny 3 would not only meet the community's demands but also expand the horizons of what is generally possible in this universe.
Judging by incoming insider information, Destiny 3 is not in development. Players are now trying to reach Sony/developers not only through the petition but also in another way – they have started to tank the rating of Marathon, also developed by Bungie. The studio is currently preparing a content update for the extraction shooter.
