New Kingdom Come will be an open-world RPG - Warhorse confirmed the genre and game director of the game
The new installment of the Kingdom Come franchise won't be long in coming.
Recently, Warhorse Studios not only confirmed rumors about the development of a game based on the "Lord of the Rings" franchise, but also announced a new installment of Kingdom Come.
With the LOTR game, everything was immediately clear – the promo banner indicated that it would be an open-world role-playing game. However, in the case of Kingdom Come, they decided to use the general wording "new adventure."
Warhorse Studios PR Manager Tobias "Sir Tobi" Stolz-Zwilling addressed the community and clarified the situation:
There are a few things I've already said, and they probably should be said again. You can expect two open-world RPGs. One open-world RPG is Kingdom Come, and the other is Middle Earth.
Sir Tobi also said that Prokop Jirsa, the lead designer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, has become the game director of the new Kingdom Come. Viktor Botsan will lead the development team for Middle Earth (the Lord of the Rings game).
The PR manager noted that if all goes well, the new Kingdom Come could be released in the next fiscal year, meaning the release could take place no earlier than April 1, 2027.
KCD 1 and 2 creator Daniel Vavra has stepped away from game development to work on a film or TV series based on the franchise, but occasionally speaks out on social media – he recently mocked Ubisoft's less-than-stellar financial performance.
