Kingdom Come Creator Mocks Ubisoft - Company Records Large Loss
The developer is clearly dissatisfied with the inefficient use of the company's resources.
Ubisoft recently presented its financial report and recorded a large loss – over a billion euros. The company remains in the red for the second consecutive year.
The not-so-outstanding financial results of the company caught the attention of a well-known developer – Warhorse Studios founder and creator of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Daniel Vávra.
He decided to share his opinion on social media. Vávra believes that with such resources, it would be possible to simultaneously develop 10 projects on the scale of KCD II and release new titles annually:
After the layoffs, Ubisoft has 16,600 employees left. Woooops. That's about 70 Warhorse-sized studios. So they could be developing 10 Kingdom Come: Deliverance II-sized games simultaneously, developing each for 7 years, and releasing new titles annually!
The developer jokingly asked the community: "But the question is: should we buy [Ubisoft] shares on the current dip?"
Ubisoft plans to achieve positive free cash flow in the coming years.
This summer, the release of the AC IV: Black Flag remake – Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced – is expected.
