TV Tokyo views the upcoming "Naruto" anniversary as the start of a new phase in the brand's development.
The "Naruto" franchise is preparing for a full return to the media landscape. At a meeting with investors following the 2025 fiscal year, the media conglomerate TV Tokyo Holdings confirmed that the upcoming celebration of the original anime's 25th anniversary will be the starting point for a new phase in the brand's development.
As part of these plans, the company is preparing fresh animated content and new video games, created by third-party partners. The first releases under the new program are expected in 2027 and later.
TV Tokyo has not yet revealed details. Earlier, insiders reported that four anniversary special episodes, originally planned for the anime's 20th anniversary, might be released in 2026.
It was also reported that Lionsgate plans to begin filming a "Naruto" movie in 2026. The project's director is Destin Daniel Cretton, known for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." He is expected to fully commit to the adaptation after completing work on the film "Spider-Man: A New Day."
