Gothic 1 Remake players on PC without SSD can expect "serious problems" - developers commented on game performance
HDD owners are expected to experience noticeable game stuttering.
The release of Gothic 1 Remake is approaching, and in the franchise's Discord* channel, community managers answered a number of community questions concerning the technical aspects of the remake on PC and consoles.
A THQ Nordic representative under the nickname Zyddie commented on the PC system requirements:
We know that the 3070 or 3070 Ti don't have 12 GB of VRAM, but the game runs great on them; the same applies to the 3060, which has 12 GB of VRAM, which is why the system requirements are specified that way.
He also reminded players once again that an SSD is required:
IMPORTANT NOTE: SSD/NVMe is required. We cannot stress this enough - all tests on HDDs have shown serious stuttering problems.
Regarding performance on consoles, Zyddie said that all will provide at least a stable 30 FPS, and added that "some will be higher, but it depends on a number of factors."
Reviews of Gothic 1 Remake will appear immediately after release:
Regarding the embargo: press / streamers / reviewers / YouTubers will be allowed to publish materials immediately after the game's release, so on the 5th, you will see A LOT of content and reviews.
Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026 - on PC, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. You can add the game to your Steam wishlist via the following link. The game will support GeForce Now.
