Ms. Sharma also wants to bring exclusives back to Xbox.

In a new interview, Xbox head Asha Sharma stated that Microsoft is setting a much more ambitious goal for its gaming division than just profit growth. According to the executive, her main task is to turn Xbox into the world's largest gaming and entertainment company by 2030.

Sharma emphasized that after her appointment as head, this goal became her primary mandate. This is not about achieving specific financial indicators or profitability, but about industry leadership.

My mandate is not a 30% margin and not corporate software metrics. My job is to make Xbox the number one gaming and entertainment company, and that's what we're going to do.

The executive noted that over the past six years, Microsoft has invested in the gaming business more aggressively than most competitors. The company acquired Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax Media, continues to invest in the development of the Xbox platform, a new generation of hardware, and even subsidizes some of the costs of device manufacturing, despite rising costs for memory and storage systems.

According to Sharma, Microsoft is not going to slow down its investment pace and intends to continue developing the gaming direction. However, she admitted that Xbox's current position cannot be called ideal.

We are committed to the long-term in the gaming industry. We believe in Xbox and will continue to invest. But we still have a lot to do. If you look at the numbers, we are not in the best shape, so the next hundred days will be dedicated to restarting the business.
