The new crime action-drama from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will be released on January 15, 2027.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio brought a new trailer for the crime action game Stranger Than Heaven to Summer Game Fest 2026. The main surprise of the video was the appearance of Tupac Shakur. The legendary rapper will appear in the game under his real name — Amaru.

Immediately after the showing, Snoop Dogg, who plays the protagonist's mentor in the project and is writing the title track, took the stage to officially confirm the appearance of his deceased friend.

SEGA announced that Tupac's appearance was made possible through an agreement with his family and Amaru Entertainment. The publisher specifically emphasized that the team is recreating the musician's image manually from archival photos and video recordings.

Earlier, the developers also confirmed the appearance of the iconic Japanese actor Bunta Sugawara, who passed away in 2014, in Stranger Than Heaven.

The game's plot will span five decades of the Tojo clan's history and take players through five eras of Japanese history — from Kokura in 1915 to Shinjuku in 1965. The main character will be Makoto Daito, a Japanese-American who will go from refugee to a legend of the criminal underworld.

Stranger Than Heaven will be released on January 15, 2027, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. On release day, the game will immediately join the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
