In the new P.A.WORKS anime, magic coexists with firearms, yakuza, and technology.

Shochiku film company has unveiled the first trailer for the anime "The Laid-Off Cheat-Granting Mage Enjoys a Second Lease on Life" and confirmed that its premiere will take place in October 2026.

The anime is set in an unusual fantasy world where magic, firearms, yakuza, and technology that weakens magical abilities coexist. The story follows a support mage named Rein Garland. After being expelled from his guild, where he was deemed useless, he decides to reclaim all the enhancement points he had applied to his former comrades' equipment over the years and embarks on a new journey.

Osamu Honma is directing the project, Yoko Yoneyama is in charge of the script, and Yuto Kiyosawa designed the characters. The production is handled by the renowned studio P.A.WORKS, known for hits such as "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms" and "Shirobako." It is important to note that the anime is based on the manga adaptation by illustrator Gyomuyo Mochi, whose plot, according to the author of the original novels, Asa Rokushima, differs by approximately 99% from the source material and offers a much crazier story.
