Over a Million Downloads in a Week: Mobile Dragonfire Based on "House of the Dragon" Storms iOS and Android Charts
The free-to-play strategy game had a strong start ahead of the premiere of HBO's third season of the show.
The free-to-play mobile strategy game Game of Thrones: Dragonfire was recently released, timed to coincide with the upcoming premiere of the third season of "House of the Dragon." In just one week after its release on Google Play, the project has been downloaded over a million times (the exact figure is in the range of 1 to 5 million, as the service does not display individual counts).
The number of downloads on the App Store is not disclosed, but there the game has already reached the 7th position in the global strategy chart and 79th place among all gaming applications. On Google Play, the new release is currently in 27th place in the strategy genre but has not yet made it into the top 100.
At the same time, the project's global user rating turned out to be quite high: on the App Store, it reached 4.8 points (based on 2.4 thousand ratings), and on Google Play — 4.7 out of 5 (after almost 11 thousand reviews). Users in the comments praise the project for its excellent graphics, impressive cutscenes, high-quality Russian translation, and gameplay in the spirit of the best mobile 4X strategies like The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War.
It is noteworthy that in the Russian region, the game's rating is significantly lower, at only 3.5 points. However, most of this negativity was left in the first days of release due to client download issues, which the developers promptly fixed with the very first patch.
The Dragonfire storyline unfolds parallel to the events of the series and invites players to take on the role of a new dragonrider during the Dance of the Dragons — the destructive Targaryen civil war. Gamers will have to raise and send their own lizards into battle, expand their territories on the map of Westeros, and forge alliances to capture King's Landing.
The premiere of the third season of "House of the Dragon" will take place on June 21, 2026.
