18:56On June 26, Nina Ostanina, head of the Committee for Family Protection and a member of the CPRF party, stated that Roskomnadzor and the Ministry of Digital Development should "direct all their knowledge and professional experience" to protect children in the virtual space and from social networks.
After a wave of discontent and requests from citizens for the state to stop interfering with censorship and control in absolutely all spheres, Ms. Ostanina went to her Telegram to reverse her position by 180 degrees.
It is impossible and unnecessary to ban video games. Moreover, many current participants in the special military operation grew up precisely in the digital environment. They know how to operate modern technology, partly because they mastered new technologies from childhood. Therefore, instead of endless bans, it is time for the state to focus on the development of the domestic video game industry. The corresponding inter-factional bill has been in the Government for more than two years.
Ostanina also added that she has always opposed restrictions — including Telegram.
We must look for technological solutions that will help protect minors from criminal influence, and not create new restrictions for law-abiding citizens. This is what should become a real state priority today.
