Gothic 1 Remake broke after update - experimental patch with dialogue fixes released on PC

PC gamers can get early access to the patch.

In early July, Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic released a major update 1.0.3 for Gothic 1 Remake. This update included a number of technical fixes, and the developers also introduced improved facial animations.

Soon after the release of the latest patch, several problems were identified in the Gothic remake. The developers are currently working on fixing them, and in the meantime, there is a temporary solution available to PC gamers on Steam.

Users of the Valve service are offered to temporarily switch to the "publictesting" branch — fixes are already available there:

This branch has already fixed the issue that caused errors in dialogues with Melvin, Raven, Stone, and several other characters.

You can connect to this beta branch on Steam by following these steps: right-click on Gothic 1 Remake in the library —> "Properties" —> "Betas" —> select the "publictesting" option (no code is required to access it).

One of the Gothic community members reported that after the last patch, the sound started disappearing on PlayStation 5 — the developers are already aware of the problem and "work is underway on it."

The release date for the next patch for Gothic 1 Remake has not yet been announced.
