Nioh Developers Prepare for Expansion: Koei Tecmo Aims to Increase Staff to 5,000
Koei Tecmo President and CEO Hisashi Koinuma spoke about the company's plans for development expansion. Over the past two years, the staff has grown from 2,500 to over 3,000 employees. The long-term goal remains the same — to increase it to 5,000 people.
From 2024 to 2025, the company hired 350 new employees. This year, another 193 people joined them. Koei Tecmo will continue to actively recruit specialists and invest in their training.
Currently, game development is handled by six internal brands, including Team NINJA, Omega Force, Gust, and the newly established AAA Studio. The company will expand its release lineup and is considering launching new brands that will allow experimentation with new genres and ideas without affecting existing series.
Koei Tecmo wants to self-publish its games worldwide. Therefore, Nioh 3 was released without the involvement of Sony, which was the publisher of previous installments.
