Gothic 1 Remake broke after update - experimental patch with sound fix already released on PC
A few days ago, Alkimia Interactive and THQ Nordic released a hotfix for Gothic 1 Remake to update 1.0.3. This update was supposed to fix a problem with one of the quests, as well as fix the sound.
However, something went wrong. The Gothic community confirmed that the developers are already aware of the sound issue:
Unfortunately, the latest hotfix introduced some sound issues on all platforms. We are aware of them and are actively working to release a stable fix as soon as possible.
PC gamers have a slight advantage, as a patch for Gothic 1 Remake is already available on Valve's service:
- fixed the issue with audio channel accumulation;
- sounds tied to the player character are no longer affected by the sound occlusion system.

The patch has not yet been fully released; to access it, you need to switch to the "publictesting" branch.
You can connect to this beta branch in Steam by following these steps: right-click on Gothic 1 Remake in your library -> "Properties" -> "Betas" -> select the "publictesting" option (no code is required to access it).
