Tech enthusiasts are trying to run modern PS5 releases on PC.

After Sony's July announcement that the company would stop releasing PlayStation game discs, some gamers have increasingly turned their attention to console hacking and various emulators.

There are already several projects online dedicated to PlayStation 5 emulation. For now, these emulators are far from the level of shadPS4 — often you can only reach the main menu of a game, and then technical problems begin.

However, even such mini-successes, as some players believe, can make Sony panic. For example, tests by one tech enthusiast who managed to launch a PlayStation 5 console exclusive on PC recently went viral.

TechDroider drew the community's attention:

Reportedly, a user named RSantila managed to run Astro Bot on PC using SharpEmu — a PS5 emulator for Windows. Astro Bot is a 2024 PS5 exclusive, so the very fact that the game even launches on PC is a HUGE achievement. PS5 emulation is developing incredibly fast.

The mere fact of launching may seem like a small achievement, but shadPS4 wasn't built in a day either — and now Bloodborne is successfully running on PC with that emulator. The PlayStation 3 emulator "RPCS3" was also gradually improved and now it handles even demanding games.
