Genshin Impact's Competitor to Get an Anime - Wuthering Waves: Elysium Teaser Revealed
The game's creators have opened their own division for producing animated projects.
Kuro Games announced the anime series Wuthering Waves: Elysium, based on the world of the game of the same name. Along with the announcement, the developers presented a debut teaser showcasing familiar characters and the first animation footage of the upcoming project.
The creators currently describe Elysium only as a story "based on the world of Wuthering Waves." Therefore, it is unknown whether the anime will be a direct adaptation of the game's plot, tell an independent story with familiar characters, or expand the universe with new characters and events.
Production is handled by Kuro Onroad – a new animation division of Kuro Games. Elysium will be its first project and simultaneously the Chinese developer's first step outside the gaming industry.
The premiere date and other details are currently unknown. However, Wuthering Waves may overtake Genshin Impact in the anime adaptation race: the studio ufotable, known for "Demon Slayer," is already working on a series based on the HoYoverse game, but its release date has not yet been announced.
