First Look at Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" Season Three Revealed - Prime Video Prepares for Comic-Con
Amazon will hold a full presentation of the sequel during Comic-Con in San Diego.
Network users got their first look at Gandalf from the third season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." An image of the character, played by Daniel Weyman, appeared on a promotional tram prepared by Amazon for the Comic-Con festival in San Diego.
The wizard was depicted in a pointed hat, long gray robes, with a beard and a gnarled staff. His appearance is now much closer to the familiar image of Gandalf from J.R.R. Tolkien's works and previous adaptations. Another image also shows Sauron, played by Charlie Vickers.
Amazon will hold a full presentation of the new season at Comic-Con with the participation of actors and showrunners Patrick McKay and John D. Payne. The festival will take place in San Diego from July 23 to 26, and it is expected that the first trailer for the sequel will premiere there.
The third season will take place several years after the second season finale. The plot will move to the war between the elves and Sauron, who will begin creating the One Ring to subjugate Middle-earth to his will. Meanwhile, Gandalf will have to deal with a new threat emerging in the eastern lands of Rhûn.
The third season will premiere on November 11, 2026, on Prime Video. In addition, the series has already been greenlit for all five planned seasons. Pre-production for the fourth season will begin this autumn, and filming will start in early 2027.
