Hypixel Studios published a massive overview of Hytale's future. The material, over four thousand words long, includes 22 videos and 37 new images dedicated to upcoming updates and the further development of the sandbox game.

Within two to three weeks, the game will receive its sixth update. It will add an in-game mod catalog, a spectator mode, a hardcore mode with permadeath, updated physics for interacting with moving objects, and a number of other improvements.

The next major stage will be the first story chapter, expected to be released within the next two to three months. It will add the first hand-crafted dungeon with a boss, expand the goblin faction, and introduce the Goblin Breach world event. During this event, temporary portals will open in the world, leading to randomly generated areas with enemies and valuable loot.

Players will also receive new goblin gadgets — jet boots, a mechanical hook, a glider, and a drill. A system of active rune-based abilities will also appear: some will unlock new techniques, while others will change their properties. For example, a fireball can be split into several projectiles or two elements can be combined to create a fire tornado.

In the longer term, the developers plan to add 14 short cooperative mini-games, rework the crafting system, implement assistants for settlements, improved world generation, cubic chunks, volumetric clouds, and tools for creating machinimas. Some of these systems will only appear in the second chapter, and some currently have no release dates at all.

However, development lead Simon Collins-Laflamme urged players not to take the publication as a reason to immediately return to Hytale:

"Frankly, there aren't many reasons to return to Hytale right now. We still have a lot of work to do to unlock the game's potential, and this is just the beginning of the journey."

Hytale was released in early access on January 13, 2026 — just two months after the founders of Hypixel Studios bought the closed project from Riot Games and resumed its development.

All 22 videos are available via the link in the official Hytale blog and have not yet been published separately on YouTube.
