Xbox is not planning to leave Steam yet

The rumors are unfounded.

Reports have surfaced online that Xbox is allegedly considering abandoning the release of its games on Steam and focusing on its own platforms. However, it turned out that these rumors are not true.

On August 3, Windows Central journalist Jez Corden commented on the situation, explaining that his words from the Xbox Two podcast were misinterpreted by news aggregators, which led to the appearance of such reports.

What I said on our Xbox Two podcast over the weekend was taken out of context by some news aggregators, and that led to rumors that Microsoft is exploring leaving Steam. The company is definitely not considering such an option right now, but there is reason to believe that Microsoft is evaluating its strategy for the development of the Windows gaming direction.

At the same time, the journalist drew attention to the wording "right now," noting that theoretically, such a question could be raised in the future. Currently, Microsoft continues to release Xbox games on Steam, and there are no signs of abandoning the Valve platform.
