The film "Spider-Man: New Day" set a new record for North American box office. Destin Daniel Cretton's picture crossed the $500 million mark just seven days after its premiere.
The previous achievement belonged to "Avengers: Endgame," which took eight days to reach this milestone in 2019. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" achieved a similar result in ten days, and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" in twelve.
From the second week, "New Day" also began showing in IMAX. During its debut weekend, all screens of the format were occupied by Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey," but now operators will split screenings between the two blockbusters.
The film's next goal could be the record for the second weekend in North America. Currently, it is held by "The Force Awakens," which earned $149.2 million. Analysts suggest that "New Day" will approach or surpass this result.
Earlier, the comic book film set a record for its opening weekend in the US and Canada, grossing $360 million against $357.1 million for "Avengers: Endgame." In six days, the worldwide gross of the film starring Tom Holland exceeded $1 billion.
