Marvel to cut down on series after "Vision's Quest" - Media
The new strategy will continue Marvel's course towards a simplified cinematic universe.
Collider, citing its own sources, reports that after the premiere of "Vision's Quest," Marvel Studios plans to reduce the production of live-action series for Disney+.
Primarily, the reduction will affect major series about new heroes. Previously, Marvel used such projects to develop secondary characters, but over time, this complicated the structure of the cinematic universe and forced viewers to follow both films and numerous shows simultaneously.
Collider's information also explains the cancellation of "Wonder Man" after the approval of its second season and aligns with recent statements by Kevin Feige. In July, the head of Marvel Studios said that "Avengers: Secret Wars" would form "a streamlined, simplified, unified universe" that would be easier for viewers to follow:
"The film will create a streamlined, simplified, unified universe that will be easier for viewers to follow. Some of its elements will seem familiar, but much will be completely new."
However, Marvel will not completely abandon smaller projects. The studio will continue to release individual mini-series and special projects under the Marvel Spotlight and Marvel Presents brands. In particular, insiders recently reported on the development of special issues about Mystique and, presumably, Living Monolith, the filming of which could begin in 2027.
The animation direction will continue to develop separately. New seasons of "X-Men '97," "Marvel Zombies," and "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" are in production. Earlier, the head of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, Brad Winderbaum, said that new seasons of the X-Men and Spider-Man animated series are planned to be released annually.
"Vision's Quest" will be released on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. The series will conclude the trilogy that began with "WandaVision" and continued with the project "Agatha All Along."
