The creators of "Slovo Patsana" and "Epidemiya" are behind the new adaptation of the Strugatsky novella.

The online cinema Wink has released a major trailer for the fantasy drama "Hard to Be a God" and announced its premiere date. The series, based on the novella of the same name by the Strugatsky brothers, will begin airing on September 3, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes.

The action unfolds in the distant future. Anton, a young employee of the Institute of Experimental History, travels to another planet and, under the name Don Rumata Estorsky, infiltrates the state of Arkanar, whose development has stalled at the level of the late Middle Ages.

Anton must observe events and save local scientists and thinkers without directly interfering with the course of history. However, following this rule becomes increasingly difficult when the authorities of Arkanar begin to persecute and destroy educated people. Simultaneously, the hero tries to find out what happened to his father, who disappeared without a trace on this planet.

The series is produced by NMG Studiya and Team Films with the support of the Internet Development Institute. The script was written by Andrey Zolotarev, who worked on "Slovo Patsana. Blood on the Asphalt," and the director is Dmitry Tyurin, known for "Trigger" and the second season of "Epidemiya."

Don Rumata is played by Serbian actor Aleksandar Radojicic, known for "Balkan Line." The series will also feature Sergey Bezrukov as Don Kondor, Fyodor Bondarchuk as Don Kuba, Fyodor Lavrov as Don Reba, and Nikita Kologrivy as Baron Pampa. The cast also includes Ravshana Kurkova and Viktoria Isakova.
