"Endgame is ***": Wardogs Game Director Acknowledges One of the Game's Main Problems and Promises to Address Balance
Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer commented on balance and progression issues in the shooter Wardogs. According to the studio head, the developers expected that as players reached high-level gear, the game would start to show endgame problems.
One such problem is related to the mortar, whose ammunition costs literally pennies, causing players to actively use it not only for destroying vehicles.
According to Brammer, Wardogs' endgame cannot be called bad — it's just in a terrible state.
I wouldn't say the endgame is broken — it's just ***.
The developer also explained why Wardogs' first season was initially made short. Bulkhead understood in advance that after the most active players reached high-level vehicles, armor, and weapons, the game's balance would require serious adjustment.
According to Brammer, if the first season had lasted three months, players could have faced the same problems within a few weeks, after which they would have had to play for several more months in a state that the developers themselves consider unsatisfactory. Therefore, the studio preferred a short season to get the necessary feedback and make changes.
