Marvel stashed away another star: Sandra Hüller stars in “Avengers: Doomsday”

Marvel has one less secret.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, German actress Sandra Hüller, nominated for an Oscar for “Anatomy of a Fall,” has joined the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday.” Exactly who she played is still unknown, though sources claim her role is relatively small.

Fans are already guessing who the actress might portray. Speculated options include Victor von Doom’s mother or one of the Latverian witches whose costumes were previously shown at San Diego Comic-Con, but whose identities have yet to be revealed.

Some fans, however, doubt that Marvel would cast an Oscar nominee just for a cameo appearance. In their view, Hüller could very well be playing a new character who will receive a more significant role in future MCU projects, but for now, all of this remains mere speculation.

In “Avengers: Doomsday,” heroes from different universes will unite against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The crossover will feature characters from “The Fantastic Four,” “Thunderbolts*,” “Black Panther,” “Thor,” and the classic “X-Men.” At the same time, Marvel has far from revealed the entire cast, and Hüller’s involvement has become yet another, but likely not the last, surprise.
