Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Coming to Switch 2 in 2025
Square Enix has confirmed that the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on Switch 2. The Intergrade version will appear in 2025 and, it seems, will be only the first port that the studio will transfer to the new console.
The news is hardly surprising to those who have followed the developers' statements. In May 2025, the remake's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, noted that Switch 2 "has enough power to run the Final Fantasy VII Remake series." It seems that the console is indeed coping with the Japanese role-playing game.
The announcement took place on August 27, 2025, via the official Final Fantasy VII account on X. The message reads: "Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released in winter on Nintendo Switch 2, providing a stable 30 frames per second, smooth gameplay, and clear graphics." The exact date has not been named, but it is obvious that the release will coincide with the holiday season. The authors hint that the game will be the highlight of the Christmas holidays.
Intergrade is unlikely to remain the only part of the remake on Switch 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth showed excellent sales, which means that its port looks like a logical continuation. It is likely that the final chapter of the trilogy will also appear on the console.
