Mass Effect series officially in the works at Amazon. Release year, details and rumors
Amazon has officially confirmed the launch of filming for a series based on Mass Effect. Production will begin in late 2026, and fans are already wondering if the project can repeat the success of Fallout.
The new series will be the next step in Amazon's strategy to adapt games after the success of Fallout. The team behind this show is responsible for the work: Scott Ferris from Amazon MGM Studios, who oversaw Fallout, and showrunner Doug Jung, known for Star Trek Beyond.
Other experienced writers have also joined the project: Daniel Casey (Fast & Furious 9), BioWare producer Michael Gamble, Avi Arad from Marvel Studios and Karim Zreik (Jessica Jones). This team gives hope for high quality and preservation of the atmosphere of the original game.
The plot, according to preliminary data, will revolve around the story of Commander Shepard, who will have to face Saren and the Reapers. The authors have not yet revealed the details, hinting that this is only a general outline, and surprises await the audience.
The network is already actively discussing the possible cast. John Cena, who published an image from Mass Effect 2, aroused interest, which gave rise to rumors about his participation. But there is no official confirmation yet.
The premiere is expected no earlier than the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028. Amazon hopes that Mass Effect will repeat the success of Fallout and become a new streaming hit.
