Chants of Sennaar has been released on iOS and Android — the mobile version is now available on the App Store and Google Play. The project, inspired by European graphic novels and the legend of the Tower of Babel, invites players to take on the role of a Traveler exploring a tower inhabited by five isolated peoples.
The player's task is to restore the lost mutual understanding between the inhabitants by deciphering forgotten languages. This requires studying alphabets, grammatical structures, and context, observing the behavior of characters, memorizing symbols, and gradually building your own vocabulary. The game revolves around the idea of overcoming the language barrier and restoring cultural connection.
Since its release on Steam in September 2023, Chants of Sennaar has received 98% positive reviews based on over 22,000 user reviews. The project was awarded the New York Game Awards for Best Indie Game and was also nominated for a BAFTA and The Game Awards.
The mobile port was handled by Playdigious, which previously released mobile versions of Dead Cells, Subnautica, and Children of Morta.
According to our author Dmitry Krivov, Chants of Sennaar is worth trying for anyone who appreciates multi-layered, diverse puzzles. In his review, he emphasized that "the game resembles a project for mobile devices, including thanks to a simple and intuitive control system". Now the game has indeed become available on smartphones.
