Insomniac Games was working on a standalone game about Venom, but the project may never be released.
The Spider-Man series from Insomniac Games has become a real phenomenon in the gaming market. The team is now focused on Wolverine, which should be the next major Sony exclusive. But due to a leak from the Insomniac Games database, the developers were also working on a separate game about Venom, a character in the Spider-Man universe.
Judging by the materials, the Venom project was conceived as a small game, similar in scale to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, that is, a standalone, more compact experience that could fill the gap between major Insomniac Games releases.
Insider That REDACTED Guy, who has been covering news about the Marvel universe for a long time, reported that many elements of the game were completed. The combat system was ready, the movement mechanics were honed, the plot was worked out, and motion capture and voice acting by Tony Todd were recorded — the actor who was supposed to voice Venom.
But the game was small and after the massive Insomniac Games data leak, it may have decided to close the project, which may never be released. It seems that the studio abandoned it literally at the final stage, and the large-scale hacker attack had a serious impact on the fate of the game.
