The psychological horror game from Japanese developer Chilla’s Art, about a student facing the paranormal during night shifts at a store, will become a feature film.

Chilla’s Art studio has announced that they are working on a live-action adaptation of the horror game The Convenience Store. Jiro Nagae, known for his adaptations of Tomodachi Game (\"Friends’ Game\") and Liar! Uncover the Truth, will direct the film. The premiere is scheduled for 2026.

The Convenience Store is an indie horror game with elements of psychological drama, in which the player controls a student working the night shift at a store. Gradually, her shifts turn into a series of encounters with paranormal phenomena related to a tragedy that occurred at this location in the past.

The game was released on Steam in 2020 and received 83% positive reviews from over 2700 reviews.

Previously, another Japanese indie horror game, The Exit 8 by KOTAKE CREATE, received a film adaptation. A review of the film is available at the link.
