Frostpunk 2 has received Update 1.4, timed to coincide with the console release. The game on PC now supports full gamepad control.
To accommodate this, the interface has been redesigned: a radial menu inspired by the first installment on consoles has been added. According to 11 Bit Studios, the changes are based on community feedback and should simplify navigation and decision-making while maintaining a high level of challenge.
In addition to controller support, the patch includes important balance adjustments. The homeless are now more susceptible to disease, and the heating system has become less costly. Visual elements have been improved—district panels now have parallax animations. Bugs have been fixed, and stability has been increased.
Among other changes: notifications about treatment in hospitals have been added; the interface now displays the number of homeless; heated districts directly heal residents; new heating levels are unlocked through generator upgrades; a research branch has appeared to increase warehouse capacity; freezes during automatic heat distribution have been eliminated. In the prologue, heating requirements have been reduced, food supplies have been increased, and disease levels and "icebreaker" costs have been adjusted. Graphical improvements and the ability to revert to version 1.3.1 have also been added.
