Marvel Rivals received its first developer technical report, Technically Speaking. In it, Technical Director Fanfan discussed how the team is working on optimization, eliminating freezes, and increasing stability.

Fanfan noted that the studio has paid close attention to community complaints about stuttering and crashes related to hardware. Changes have already been made to shader compilation, ability processing, and parallel computing. The problem of lag in intense battles was particularly highlighted. To solve it, the shader loading system was reworked: now the game loads only the most used shaders, which reduced startup time and memory consumption by about 40%. More than 200 bottlenecks distributing calculations across frames and cores have also been optimized.

The report discussed new tools. Starting in Season 3, a performance test is available in the PC version that simulates battles, measures the load on the CPU, GPU, and network, and suggests settings for specific hardware. The use of multi-core processors has been improved — tests show an increase in average fps of up to 30%.

Special attention is paid to the PlayStation 4 version, whose specifications are below the minimum PC requirements. The team has reworked the game logic, rendering, and memory management. The optimization will also affect other platforms in Season 4.

On the stability front, work continues with Intel processors, eliminating GPU crashes, and collaborating with manufacturers. According to Fanfan, the number of crash reports has been reduced by more than half, but the process is not yet complete.
