Sometimes the "rise" of games on Steam can greatly surprise the developers themselves.
Recently, Idle Pixel Fantasy was released on Steam. This is a free game without the microtransactions typical of the genre.
Max Ritters is recording his first profit after five days: more than 4 thousand dollars. Monetization is done through the sale of small add-ons.
For him, the success was unexpected — before that, he had already released several projects, but they were not very popular:
«Last Monday I released my little f2p game Idle Pixel Fantasy and was overwhelmed by the number of players. As you can see, I don't have that many wishlists and the Steam page only existed for a month before release.
I checked out a lot of other free games and most of them have in-game microtransactions, and I don't like them. So for my game, I added separate mini-add-ons that you can view right on the Steam page. I have always made it clear that they are completely optional and unnecessary, but it's a great way to support me as a developer. People seem to like my honesty and lack of hidden fees».
Idle Pixel Fantasy can be completed in about 3-4 hours and the game was a side project of Max Ritters. It took him only a month and a half to create it. Now he plans to continue developing the game, a large update is in the works.
